The Austin Business Journal’s 2014 Best CEOs Awards ceremony was held at the Driskill Hotel last Thursday evening. The candidates were nominated by their peers and selected from various industries such as retail, oil and gas, technology and nonprofits.
Kendra Scott, CEO of Kendra Scott Design, is the winner of the Austin Business Journal’s 2014 Best CEO Award for medium-sized businesses. She said that the biggest challenge she’s ever faced as CEO is starting a company with no capital.
People’s Community Clinic CEO Regina Rogoff, winner of the Austin Business Journal’s 2014 Best CEO Awards in the nonprofit category, said that her former career as a legal aid attorney and executive director prepared her for the C-suite.
Tiff’s Treats CEO Leon Chen, winner of the Austin Business Journal’s 2014 Best CEO Awards in the small company category, said that his leadership focus is to cultivate a culture and vision in his company.
DrillingInfo CEO Allen Gilmer, winner of the Austin Business Journal’s 2014 Best CEO Award in the large-company category, said that the best business advice he ever received was “that 1 + 1 can equal 1 or it can equal 3.”
National Instruments Corp. CEO James Trouchard is the recipient of the Legacy Award at the 2014 Austin Business Journal’s Best CEO Awards. He said that he started a company to create the job he wanted.
