A West Austin address has cache, and usually a gorgeous older home sitting on a manicured lawn. The communities to the west skew toward the high end of the housing scale and, generally speaking, the climate leans toward conservative and traditional. Most of the schools are great, as is the shopping, dining, and scenery.
Tarrytown and Pemberton Heights are among Austin’s oldest and most prestigious neighborhoods, and offer residents elegant homes in tranquil, established communities with a quick and comfortable trek downtown. Head farther west and you’ll find some of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods and master-planned communities nestled in the scenic rolling hills that hint at the nearby Hill Country area.
Points of interest include Lake Austin, the 360 Bridge, Mt. Bonnell, Austin and Westwood Country Clubs, Barton Creek Greenbelt, and the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve.
