Pflugerville Independent School District, founded in 1902, is a fast-growth district located in northeast Travis County. The district encompasses approximately 95 square miles and includes all or part of six municipalities: Pflugerville, Austin, Coupland, Hutto, Manor, and Round Rock.
Pflugerville Independent School District is preparing “Each Child for Their Future in Our World” and doing so in an effective and efficient manner. The State Comptroller’s office has identified Pflugerville ISD, which has a diverse student population of more than 22,500 students at 28 campuses, as a district having both high student achievement and low operational costs.
The district is committed to providing all students with quality educational experiences that will prepare them to be productive members of the global community, while at the same time providing value to the district’s taxpayers.
The district is working to provide each student with a pathway to begin preparation for life after high school, whether college or career. Pathways are designed around the academic and career offerings at each campus and based on student goals, interests, and aptitudes. Students choose specific pathways that will develop their knowledge and skills for a lifetime of success. Each Pathway consists of a coherent sequence of three or more courses that allow students to achieve success through Advanced Placement courses, dual-credit courses that offer both high school and college credit, and offerings for technical preparation.
To support the district’s work, teachers, parents, community members, and business leaders have served vital roles on task forces and advisory committees. The Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce and Pflugerville ISD have a 25-year history of supporting each other’s leadership and initiatives. As the Community has grown and developed, so has the Chamber’s involvement, with both monetary and volunteer support of PISD through the Pflugerville Education Foundation, various Campus Advisory Committees and, more recently, a new partnership on their Career & Technical Education Advisory Committee.
By working together, the district and its partners are transforming Pflugerville ISD’s instructional programs to ensure that all students are engaged in learning from the moment they walk through the door to the time they walk across the graduation stage and receive their diplomas.
