Elegant fine-dining restaurants are abundant in Austin. So is everything from vegan, gluten-free fare to a greasy burger with a side of fries. We love to eat out in Austin, for convenience, business, entertainment, and to tantalize our taste buds. It won’t take you long to discover why Austin is now considered one of the most diverse and respected eating hubs in the United States.
For a special evening, Austin will impress. The award-winning wine list at Jeffrey’s is reason enough to go, as is the walk-in wine room and ambience at III Forks. TRIO at the Four Seasons overlooks Lady Bird Lake, and the sophisticated Lobby Lounge is among Austin’s best places to see and be seen. Rated one of the Top Five New Restaurants in Texas, Uchi is worth the wait. Dine in a Victorian estate at Green Pastures when a romantic setting is what you’re after. Enjoy a graceful evening at Eddie V’s or Vespaio, or trek to Hudson’s on the Bend, where the specialty is game and you can opt for a chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, hit up one of the food trailers on South Congress, also known as SoCo, located just south of Lady Bird Lake. Yes, that’s right. Just look for the little community of Airstream trailers and a steady stream of hungry people lining up for everything from crepes to cones to cupcakes. Pull up a plastic chair or tote your treat and dine while you wander the nearby shops.
