Oracle chooses Austin for expansion of its sales and marketing functions to serve the Company’s growing client base. The project will add 200 employees to Oracle’s existing Austin workforce and a new 50,000-square-foot office space with a total capital investment of approximately $5.4 million.
“Over a decade ago when Oracle made the decision to come to Austin, we sought a central, vibrant community that offered access to a strong talent pipeline and a supportive business community, and the region has certainly delivered,” said Oracle Vice President of Global Real Estate and Facilities Randy Smith. “We’ve enjoyed building a home in Austin, and now, as the second largest software company in the world, are looking forward to continued growth and success in Central Texas.”
Oracle plans to hire 100 of those new jobs in 2013 and the remainder by 2017 with the average annual salary of $66,000.
“Williamson County is an ideal environment for global companies looking to expand their operations,” said Williamson County Precinct One Commissioner Lisa Birkman. “We have been pleased to work with Oracle on their expansion and look forward to welcoming their new facility into our community and to a continued positive business relationship for years to come.”
Oracle is the latest global technology leader to expand its footprint in Austin, together totaling nearly 7,000 jobs and more than $4.4 billion in capital investment for the region. In the past year, companies including National Instruments, Visa, Samsung, GM, Apple and HID Global have announced major economic development projects in Central Texas.
The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce supported the expansion through its Opportunity Austin initiative that facilitates the creation of jobs and continued economic success for the Austin region.
