For many of us, summer is a time of relaxation. A time to put away the textbooks and the deadlines, relax on the beach, and turn the mind off for a bit. But some of us may desire to keep stimulating those brain cells and keep the mental juices flowing. Trivia night in Austin serves as a great way to test your knowledge while enjoying a refreshing margarita. Here are some of Austin’s best trivia night venues, ranging from classic, to sporty and fun venues.

Volstead Lounge

Located in hip East Austin, you won’t want to miss this classic vintage cocktail lounge’s trivia nights. Themes range from “Sex and The City” to “Rick and Morty.” Winners receive a $20 bar tab and enjoy drinks inspired by the topic of the night. Indulge at the on-site food truck while trying to recall the name of Carrie Bradshaw’s favorite designer purse.

Pinthouse Pizza

Pizza, beer, trivia—what more could one ask for? With two locations in Austin, Pinthouse Pizza was founded by “six guys who share a passion for craft beer and good food,” according to the web site. They uphold an “old-school mentality” and make all their pizzas in-house. Bite into a sizzling Margherita pizza, sip on quality draft beer, and enjoy a weekly trivia night called “Geeks Who Drink,” which takes place on Wednesday evenings.

The Tavern

Founded in 1933 after the Prohibition era, this local sports bar has been serving great beer and burgers ever since. Trivia night takes place every Wednesday—and so do drink specials. Enjoy $2.50 pints and $10 pitchers of Dos Equis; $3.50 Working Girls, and more. Round up your pals (up to six people per team) and battle for “boozy prizes.” Registration opens at 6:30 p.m., and the quiz starts at 8:00 p.m.
